FeedBack DataLogger Review

Leaf Group Ltd focuses on moisture detection and problem-solving in different structures. For many years we use Tramex products on a regular basis in our daily job in order to ensure that we have reliable and accurate readings when analysing moisture-related problems. Our clients range from building companies, that specialises in civil and infrastructure projects, floor applicators as well as the general public, that experience problem related to excess moisture in underground server rooms, cellars, basements, elevator shafts, garages, service tunnels and structures, bridges, parking lots and many other.

Frequently, we assess high levels of moisture contents in concrete slabs, that clients describe as “soaking wet”. When we analyse the floor moisture conditions, we use Tramex CMExpert2 and infrared thermometer with a built-in hygrometer, available on the Tramex website. In most cases, when we examine underground structures, it turns out that the problem is related to the room ambient conditions, rather than damage in the waterproofing membrane, as clients think. Because the climate specifics in west Bulgaria, the air temperature, as well as the humidity, frequently are in a ratio that affects the dewpoint in a way that condensation sets on the floors and walls surfaces, frequently mistaken by non-specialists as underground water penetrating the structure. When such conditions occur, it increases the risk of mechanical damage, mould formation, accelerates the natural ageing as well as the metal corrosion throughout the structure. Furthermore, frequently flooring companies approach us when they are not able to asses if it is safe to apply their coatings on concrete slabs. Their concern arises from the fact that high moisture contents in the concrete slabs may damage the newly applied floorcovering. In such cases, we examine the surface moisture conditions, as well as in-situ, by using the Tramex Hygro-I2 probe, as moisture may be trapped beneath concrete’s surface and travel through capillaries towards the floorcovering and damage it on a later stage.  

We use Tramex FeedBack DataLogger, which is a comprehensive way to assess the ambient conditions. Together with the Hygro-I2 probe, it gives accurate, reliable and easy to understand readings, that show in a definitive way the moisture contents in the concrete slabs, as well as the ambient conditions.

The fact that the unit records the temperature, humidity and dew-point in the room and inside the concrete slab helps us to determine and analyse the conditions throughout the whole assessment process, with many customisable data point entries and continuous logging, rather than just in one reading at a time. This helps us to determine the factors that may result in moisture absorption by the concrete’s surface and how the room air conditions affect the drying processes. The Tramex Feedback app is user-friendly, easy to configure, with many capabilities and great function, that exports the readings for further assessment in easy to read interactive chart, as well as a spreadsheet. Tramex FeedBack DataLogger’s Bluetooth connectivity helps to download wirelessly the data, without the need to be close to the unit.

Tramex FeedBack DataLogger is a great device that we use in our practice, with many capabilities, that helps us to examine in great depth clients’ moisture-related problems, giving us data, that was difficult to acquire before.
